Competition types
Every dancer of every level will find what suits him and what he really dreams of here in COPAA.
Official Qualifier events
COPAA hosts official qualifier events that serve as the only pathway for dancers to be selected for the National Team of Cyprus and to represent the country in international championships under IDO, WMF, WDA, and ECU – COPAA Cyprus Championship and COPAA Cyprus Cup.
These qualifier events are exclusively organized by COPAA. No other organization, school, or private entity is authorized to host ranking or qualifier competitions on COPAA behalf.
Participation in these official events ensures:
✅ Recognition at the national level
✅ Eligibility for international championships
✅ Fair and standardized evaluation by licensed adjudicators
✅ Full alignment with COPAA’s internal rules and the regulations of our partner organizations

COPAA Licensed Ranking Competitions
In addition to official qualifier events, COPAA Licensed Ranking Competitions can be organized by registered COPAA members. These events contribute to dancers’ national ranking and offer a professional competitive experience within the COPAA system.
To organize a licensed competition, the following conditions must be met:
✅ Submit an official event application to COPAA
✅ Pay the required license fee
✅ Comply with all COPAA organizational and technical regulations
✅ Guarantee proper event standards and qualified adjudication
✅ Ensure the participation of at least 5 COPAA member schools
✅ Provide a fair, well-structured, and inclusive event environment
All licensed competitions are reviewed and approved by COPAA to maintain integrity, quality, and alignment with the rules of international partner organizations (IDO, WMF, WDA, and ECU).
Note: Only COPAA itself can organize official qualifier events for national team selection.

National Team Selection & Qualification Criteria
To be eligible for selection to the National Team of Cyprus and to represent the country at World and Continental Championships (IDO, WMF, WDA, ECU), the following requirements apply:
Mandatory Participation in the Cyprus Championship
- All candidates must compete in the COPAA Cyprus Championship.
- Only dancers who place in the top 3 (1st–3rd place) in their category will be considered.
Qualification Based on Annual Ranking Points
Ranking points reflect not just a single performance but a dancer’s consistency, dedication, and development over the season.
Final selection is based on the dancer’s overall ranking points, collected throughout the year from both:
• Official Qualifier Competitions (organized by COPAA)
• COPAA Licensed Ranking Events (organized by approved COPAA members)
