Rules and Conditions
Our Commitment to Standards
Like every professional organization, COPAA operates under its own set of rules and regulations to ensure fairness, quality, and safety in everything we do.
In addition, we fully respect and follow the rules of the international organizations we are affiliated with, including IDO, WMF, ECU and WDA. This alignment guarantees that all our events meet the highest standards recognized worldwide in the field of performing arts.
Internal Rules and Statutes
COPAA operates under a clearly defined set of Internal Rules and Statutes, which serve as the foundation of our organization’s structure, governance, and daily operations. These statutes outline the responsibilities of members, organizational procedures, ethical standards, and the guiding principles behind every event and initiative we conduct.
All members are expected to read, understand, and adhere to these rules to ensure a respectful, transparent, and professional environment for everyone involved.
COPAA also aligns its practices with the regulations of international bodies such as IDO, WMF, WDA, and ECU (European Cheer Union), ensuring consistency with globally recognized standards in the performing arts and sports disciplines we support.
Dance Rules
COPAA’s Dance Rules are created to provide clear and detailed guidelines for each dance style, ensuring that all participants compete under fair, transparent, and professional conditions.
These rules cover all essential aspects of performance, including:
✅ What is allowed and what is not in choreography and movement
✅ How the composition should be structured for each style and category
✅ Music tempo and duration requirements
✅ Costume regulations to maintain appropriateness and artistic intent
✅ Age divisions and categories for fair placement of dancers
✅ Technical difficulty, originality, and presentation standards
By following these rules, dancers, coaches, and choreographers gain a solid framework to prepare their routines with confidence and clarity. They also help adjudicators evaluate performances consistently and professionally.
COPAA’s Dance Rules are aligned with the standards of leading international organizations such as IDO, WMF, WDA, and ECU, ensuring compatibility with global competition formats.
Competition Rules
The COPAA Competition Rules provide essential information for officials, dancers, organizers, and the audience. These rules ensure that every aspect of our competitions is transparent, fair, and professionally managed.
They include detailed guidelines on:
✅ Official and licensed ranking events — including how they are structured and recognized within COPAA and international systems
✅ Participation eligibility — who can take part and how to register
✅ Requirements for event organizers — including venue standards, organizational responsibilities, and licensing criteria
✅ Competition fees — clearly outlined for participants and schools
✅ Scheduling and format — including event timelines, rounds, and awards
✅ Adjudicator application and criteria — outlining how judges are selected, their responsibilities, and required qualifications
These rules ensure that every competition runs smoothly, fairly, and in alignment with COPAA values and international standards (IDO, WMF, WDA, ECU).
